How can reflexology benefit you? Following illness, stress, injury or disease the body is in a state of imbalance and vital body systems can be blocked. This can prevent the body from functionally optimally, and which in turn can manifest in a weakened immune system, stress, insomnia, fatigue and pain. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural balance and facilitate healing. Reflexology is fantastic as preventative wellness and a can be a source of deep relaxation for the mind, body and spirit.

During a session specific pressure is applied to varies areas on the foot that are thought to correspond with the organs and body systems. The foot has over 7000 nerve endings so when these get stimulated the impacts and benefits will be experienced all over your body. Our hands can detect tiny deposits in the feet which can also indicate an imbalance and we can help to break them up to restore flow throughout the body. Besides combating stress, reflexology can be beneficial for managing chronic health conditions. Another significant benefit of reflexology is it can detoxify the body and allow the lymphatic system to purify it if of wastes.

I find reflexology a fascinating holistic health modality. It is an ancient healing art with evidence that it was practiced in approximately 2400 BC by the Egyptians showing reflexology in a wall painting found in the tomb of Ankhmahor, an ancient Egyptian physician.
